Homework

Homework is meaningful and appropriate work related to district curricular objectives which requires time outside regular school hours. Homework is work which the student is able to do independently and is not under the immediate supervision of a certificated teacher.

It is the policy of the La Canada Unified School District to assign homework which is directly related to classroom instruction and provides an opportunity to either reinforce skills and knowledge taught in the classroom, or to independently and appropriately prepare for successive classroom activities. It is the view of the district that homework helps students take responsibility for their own learning, provides opportunity outside the classroom to develop constructive study habits, provides additional opportunity to reinforce basic skills and provides supplementary learning experiences.
