Back-to-School Night Presentations with Power Point

To open Power Point: click on the icon on the Office toolbar or click the start button, go to "programs", click on the Power Point icon.

After opening the program you will see a screen offering you three choices: Auto Content Wizard, Template or Blank Presentation. Click on Blank Presentation.

Choose a slide layout from the Auto Layout screen that appears. If you click on a layout once you will get a description of the design of that slide. Choose the layout that best fits your needs for that slide.

After you finish working with each slide you will need to go to Insert-New Slide for the next blank slide.

Adding Text

Click in the square to add your text. You can use the fonts and colors just as you would in your word processor. If you want to add or change the bullets, go to Format-Bullet and choose the style and color of bullet that will compliment your slide show.

Adding Pictures

Go to Insert-Picture. You can choose to insert a picture from the clipart file or you can insert a picture from any other location by clicking on the "From File" option.

Once your picture is on the screen you may resize and relocate it using the eight points that appear around the edge of the picture. It is recommended that you use the corner points because these allow the picture to be resized proportionally.

Viewing

Go to View-Slide Sorter. In "Slide Sorter you will be able to see all of your slides and move them around (by dragging them) so that they best fit the order of your presentation.

Go to View-Slide. You can view and edit individual slides. By using the scroll bar on the right you can move through your slides and edit each one.
