| February 20, 2013 Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students: It is time to start preparing for the 2013-14 school year. The registration process at LCHS is designed to aid students in developing a class schedule consistent with their abilities, interests, and post high school plans. The registration process will begin the week of February 25th and continue throughout the second semester, culminating with a confirmed schedule of classes for 2013-14 that will be distributed to each student prior to the end of the academic year. Students are asked to select a schedule of classes for the 2013-14 school year that takes into consideration their many commitments at school and beyond and is academically challenging. Parents and guardians play a key role in this process by providing support and guidance, ensuring that their child selects courses in which s/he can be successful. Students will hear presentations from school counselors about high school graduation requirements, course selection, departmental scope and sequence, and college admission requirements. In addition, counselors will provide each student with a copy of his/her high school transcript, a Registration Quick Guide (link listed below), and this year's Pre-Registration Course Request form. This form is due to the counseling department on the Friday following the presentation. To assist students in selecting courses, students must review the Registration Handbook, grade-specific Registration Quick Guide, and notes taken during the counselor presentation. As students review these materials, they are encouraged to seek guidance from teachers and their assigned counselor. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school counselor.
Sincerely, Jim Cartnal Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction
