Teams of teachers utilized the Illuminate Ed database system during their collaboration time last Friday. By department, teachers focused on the creation of item banks for their assessments, and then directed their learning towards the process of tracking those assessments. Teachers concentrated on the input of scores from assessments into Illuminate Ed, linked the results to appear instantaneously, and practiced using those assessments to further direct their pedagogy.
Teachers also met to align anchor assessments and pacing guides by core subject area. In each department they were able to update their formative assessments based on this collaboration. Then, teams of teachers met and evaluated their diagnostic exam that we created through Intel-Assess. They identified critical issues that were in common and set goals and strategies for teaching their students before the next collaboration day.
Later in the day, teachers worked on our “self-study” report of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation process. Teachers refined the document to include latest findings in the subgroup teams and the processes underway to further the professional development program as it relates to PLC’s.
Finally, teachers integrated their iPad technology with the Common Core State Standards, (CCSS), and extended their classroom conversations by integrating their curriculum with My Big Campus in order to provide extended learning opportunities for all students. All of this to say that this collaboration time was valued and valuable for the high school staff.
