8. Main conflict in the book: Cortez has to fight half a million Aztecs coming from land and sea. Cortez wants to fight the Aztecs for the riches for Spain and the honor of conquering the Aztecs but if he doesn’t act fast the king of Spain will replace him.

(1) Cortez was sent from Spain to conquer the Aztecs for the land and gold.
(2) Aztec chief was trying to defend his land and gold from the Spaniards.

The characters are believable and interesting

I liked this book because I learned about the battles between the Aztecs and other tribes with the Spaniards.
