5. Year the book was published: 2007
6. Genre: fiction
7. Student rating of the book (1 the highest, 5 the lowest): 1
8. Main conflict in the book: The main conflict of this book was that Troy had a talent of predicting football plays before they happened. Troy’s mom got a job as an assistant for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL. Now Troy could go to the football games and he thought that he could tell the coach what play to defend and the Falcons could win. He was wrong; the coach didn’t believe he could do so. As the season went on the Falcons kept losing and losing and Troy could do nothing about it.
9. Setting of the book: (place and time) This story takes place in modern-day Atlanta, Georgia.
10. Main Characters and part they play in the book:
(1) Troy White, He can predict what football play will happen next. This helps the falcons to win some of their games
(2) Seth Halloway, he is a NFL player for the Falcons and he lives in the same area as Troy. Seth introduces Troys’ abilities to the coaches of the Falcons.
11. Are the characters believable and interesting? These characters are very believable because they share the same feeling of what you would assume. They are interesting because Seth is the really the only person who trusts and believes Troy.
12. One excellent direct quotation from the book: (include who said it, page number, and quotation marks!)”It’s okay,” Troy said, finding his voice. “I know what I am. That’s why I want this so bad. I want to do something. I want to be something. I thought this was my chance.” (Page 185)
13. Good reasons to read the book: A good reason to read this book it will inspire anyone who has been an underdog before and knows how it feels when you’re turned down again and again.
14. Any reasons not to read the book? Sometimes the football plays are hard to understand but overall it is a great book.
15. Did you like this book or not? And why….I loved Football Genius because of all the risky things Troy has done and he offered up just about anything to make his favorite NFL team win.
