How To Convert Your PowerPoint Presentation Into a Web Page
(For MS Office 97)

Open your PowerPoint Presentation.
When you convert your PowerPoint Presentation into a web page, PowerPoint will automatically create a folder to store all the web pages and will give it the same name as the name of your presentation. If you don’t have a good descriptive name of your presentation, change it by choosing Save As… from the File Menu, and give it a more descriptive name.
From the File Menu, choose Save As HTML… This will use a "wizard" to guide you through the process.
At the first screen (called the Start screen), click the Next button.
At the second screen (Layout Selection), make sure the "New Selection" circle is selected and click Next.
At the third screen (Page Style), make sure the "Standard" circle is selected and click Next (If you are an experienced web master and you are using frames throughout your Digital Portfolio, feel free to choose the Frame Page Style.)
At the fourth screen (Graphic Type) keep the default setting of "GIF" and make sure that circle is selected (It really doesn’t matter if you choose GIF or JPEG at this point, Just DON’T select the circle "PowerPoint Animation" unless you are experienced at this and want that choice specifically.) Click the Next button.
At the fifth screen (Graphic Size) keep the settings "640x480" and "½ width of the screen" and click the Next button. This will make the "slides" look good on any size monitor.
On the sixth screen (Information Page), leave all of these settings blank and click the Next button.
On the seventh screen (Colors and Buttons), keep the selection "Use Browser Colors" and click the Next button.
For the eighth screen (Button Style), choose any style you wish and click the Next button.
For the ninth screen (Layout Options), choose any layout you like and click the Next button.
The tenth screen will ask you to locate WHERE you want this saved. You want to be careful to save this in your network folder (that has your ID Number on it), and inside the WWW folder. Click the button BROWSE to find your folder.
Click on the Black Triangle facing down in the "Look in:" text box and find the "shortcut" to your folder. It is the choice with your ID Number.
Click the Next button.
The last screen (Finish) tells you that you have answered all the wizard’s questions, so click the Finish button.
A dialog box will ask you to type a name for these HTML conversion settings in case you want to use them again. You can:
Type your name and click Save (if you think you will use the same settings again for another presentation.)
Or click Don’t Save, (if you don’t think you will use these settings again) the choice is yours.
Wait for the wizard to do his work.
You will get a message that your presentation has been successfully saved as HTML. Click OK.
The last step is to create a "link" from your main web page to the PowerPoint presentation web page.
Quit PowerPoint (File Menu / Exit)
Open Netscape Communicator. (Start Menu / Programs / Netscape Communicator / Netscape Composer).
Open your main web page (File Menu / Open Page / Choose File… / and browse for your page.)
Once your page is open, highlight the text that will be your link (or type the text that will be your link and highlight this text)
Click on the button named Link in Composer’s Toolbar.
In the dialog box, click the button Choose File… and find the folder where you saved your PowerPoint web pages.
Once you find it, double click on it. Then double click on the file inside called "index.htm".
Then click OK.
Save your web page in Composer now that you have created your link. (File Menu / Save).
Finally, you want to test your link and browse your PowerPoint web pages.
Browse your web page (File Menu / Browse Page) or (Communicator Menu / Browse Page near the bottom of the menu, if it appears).
Click on the link and browse your PowerPoint web pages.
