Title IX

What is Title IX?

Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states:

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

LCUSD has Board Policies (BP) regarding Nondiscrimination (BP 4030) and Sexual Harassment (BP 4119.11) . Both are available below for the students, staff, parents, and the public.

In the summer of 2020, the Department of Education enacted new Title IX regulations to bolster the legal right to equal access to education, provide new and meaningful protections for survivors of sexual harassment and assault, and balance the scales of justice on campuses across America. LCUSD is in compliance with the new regulations, and has updated its' policies and grievance procedures. District staff attended Title IX training conducted by the California School JPA, in conjunction with the legal firm of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo.
