La Cañada Unified School District has a vacancy in school year 2022-2023 for a 0.6 FTE (60%) G.A.T.E. teacher at the elementary and middle school sites. The G.A.T.E. teacher works under the supervision of the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services to teach students in the G.A.T.E. program.

Qualifications:
1. Credential: Valid California Multiple Subject Credential, including a certification to teach English Language Learners. Preferred: Specialist Instruction Credential in Gifted Education.
2. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher
3. Experience: At least 3-5 years of successful teaching experience. Previous experience working with gifted students.

Work Year: This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE or 60%); August through early June (10 months); 186 contracted workdays. The first day of paid service is Thursday, August 11, 2022. A new teacher orientation day has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The first day with students will be Monday, August 15, 2022, and the last day of the teacher work year is Monday, June 5, 2023. A probationary contract will be offered, leading to tenure.
Benefits
Salary Range: Placement on the certificated salary schedule is dependent on education and years of employment in a public school district. No cap on years for public school experience. The starting annual salary range for a fully credentialed teacher at 0.6 FTE is $34,923 to $67,105. Teachers are paid over 11 months, August through June.

Benefits: This position is eligible to participate in the District’s medical benefit plans. Currently the District’s maximum contribution to an employee’s benefits package is $15,930 per year. Premiums for a part-time employee are prorated based on the employee’s full-time equivalent (FTE) percentage.
