La Cañada Unified School District has a vacancy for a high school math teacher for the 2022-23 school year. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE or 100%) that is tenure track at La Cañada High School. The specific course sections are yet to be determined, but the candidate must hold a full math credential, authorizing subject matter up to grade 12.

Salary Range:
Placement on the certificated salary schedule is dependent on education and years of employment in a public school district. No cap on years for public school experience. The starting annual salary range for a fully credentialed teacher is $58,205 to $111,841, corresponding to $5,291.36 to $10,167.37 per month. Teachers are paid over 11 months, August through June.

Benefits:
This position is eligible to participate in the District’s medical benefit plans. Currently the District’s maximum contribution to an employee’s benefits package is $15,930 per year. Premiums for a part-time employee are prorated based on the employee’s full-time equivalent (FTE) percentage.

Signing Bonus:
If a newly hired teacher signs a contract with the District before May 31, the District will offer a signing bonus as follows: $3,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2022-23 work calendar; $1,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2023-24 work calendar; and $2,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2024-25 work calendar and permanent status has been granted. If a new employee leaves the District prior to being granted permanent status, the remainder of the installments will be forfeited and not paid to the individual.

If a newly hired teacher signs a contract with the District on or after May 31, but no later than July 1, 2022, the District will offer a signing bonus as follows: $1,500 on the first day of paid service based on the 2022-23 work calendar; $1,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2023-24 work calendar; and $2,000 on the first day of paid service based on the 2024-25 work calendar and permanent status has been granted. If a new employee leaves the District prior to being granted permanent status, the remainder of the installments will be forfeited and not paid to the individual.

Qualifications:
1. Credential: Valid California single subject teaching credential in full mathematics (K-12), including a certification to teach English Language Learner students. At this time, teachers holding only a foundational-level mathematics credential will not be considered.
2. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Work Year:
This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE or 100%); August through early June (10 months); 186 contracted workdays. First day of paid service is Thursday, August 11, 2022. A new teacher orientation day has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The first day with students will be Monday, August 15, 2022, and the last day of the teacher work year is Monday, June 5, 2023.
