Josh Epstein
Josh Epstein has been a dedicated member of the La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board since 2020, bringing with him a deep commitment to education and community engagement. After relocating to La Cañada in 2009 from New York City, Josh quickly became involved in local efforts to support public education. He joined the La Cañada Educational Foundation Board of Directors, where he served a six-year term. During that time, he held several leadership roles, including three years on the Executive Board and one year as Board President.
Following his tenure with the Foundation, Josh continued to champion educational initiatives by co-chairing two major community campaigns: the Citizen Committee in Support of the Measure LCF Bond and the Committee in Support of the Measure LC Parcel Tax. Both measures passed with overwhelming support, reflecting the trust and enthusiasm of the community for the work being done. In addition to these efforts, Josh has volunteered on multiple district committees, contributing his time and insight to help shape policy and improve student outcomes.
Outside of his governance and volunteer work, Josh is a professor at Chapman University in the College of Performing Arts. He is also an award-winning theatrical designer whose work has been featured on Broadway and in leading theaters across the country, including many of Los Angeles’ most prestigious venues. His creative expertise and academic leadership bring a unique perspective to the board, enriching discussions with both artistic and analytical insight.
Josh received his BA in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. He received his MFA in design from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He and his wife, Beth, are proud parents of three daughters, all of whom have attended schools in the district. Their family’s active participation in the community underscores Josh’s personal investment in the success and well-being of La Cañada’s students and families.
