Dan Jeffries
Dan Jeffries was first elected to the Governing Board of the La Cañada Unified School District in 2013 and was reelected in 2017 and 2022. He has proudly served two terms as Board President, guiding the district through pivotal years of change and growth.
A staunch advocate and proud product of public education, Dan is a double graduate of UCLA, earning his B.A. in Mathematics and Juris Doctorate. While pursuing his degrees, he also served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the UCLA Campus Police Department — an early testament to his lifelong commitment to public service and community safety.
For nearly four decades, Dan has served the people of Los Angeles as a prosecutor with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, where he currently holds the position of Assistant City Attorney and Senior Advisor. The son of a retired college professor, Dan has devoted much of his distinguished legal career to prosecuting DUI cases, later shifting his focus to data and analytics to enhance prosecutorial efficiency and public safety outcomes.
During his tenure on the LCUSD Governing Board, Dan and his colleagues have successfully navigated complex and often contentious issues — including teacher negotiations, implementation of the Common Core State Standards, and advocacy around a state funding formula that continues to underfund LCUSD compared to many districts across California. His steady leadership, analytical approach, and deep respect for educators have earned him the trust of both the district and the broader community.
Beyond his professional and board responsibilities, Dan is deeply involved in youth and community service. The proud father of five children, he has volunteered for years as a coach, referee, and Safety Director for AYSO, sharing his love of teamwork and mentorship with hundreds of young athletes. He also serves as an Emergency Medical Technician with the American Red Cross, continuing to give back through hands-on service.
Respected for his thoughtful perspective, fairness, and tireless commitment to students and families, Dan remains dedicated to ensuring that La Cañada Unified continues to offer an exceptional public education that prepares every student for success in an ever-changing world.
