English 1 is a foundational year that is designed to provide students with the necessary skills for future success in English Language Arts. The course will introduce students to in-depth annotation, argumentation, research, as well as literary and rhetorical analysis. Students are expected to differentiate between analysis and summary, participate in class and group discussions, and overall, to become more critical readers, speakers and writers.
