Prerequisite: None, Recommended Grade of a grade of an A in English 2 P or a grade of B or higher in English 2 HR P Daily Homework: 45-60 minutes 

AP English Language and Composition engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written in a variety of periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts, and in becoming skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes. In preparation for the College Board Advanced Placement exam, students will analyze the techniques of argument and persuasion and how authors employ rhetorical strategies to achieve purpose. Students study a variety of nonfiction texts and will practice the art of constructing meaningful arguments by using examples, analogies, and informed sources to document their positions and use citations accurately.
