GATE Advisory Committee
Purpose/Role
The GATE Advisory Committee is to advise and support responsible school district officials in administering all aspects of the GATE Program including ongoing planning, implementation, and evaluation. Topics addressed, although not limited to, are the qualification criteria, goals, parameters, programs, practices, and instructional resources. The members will represent the perspectives of their school sites and provide parents with educational opportunities related to gifted education. The GATE Advisory Committee will be chaired by the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services and decisions will be made through consensus.

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
- LCHS Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

- One of the Elementary School Principals
- Elementary school counselors who are GATE Site Coordinators
- 7/8 Counselor
- GATE teacher
- One parent of a GATE-identified student from each elementary school selected by the Principal
- Two parents (representing different families) of GATE students from LCHS 7/8 selected by the Principal
Any parent of a GATE-identified student desiring to be a member of the GATE Advisory Committee should direct the request to their child’s school site principal. Membership is confirmed at the start of the school year.
Meetings take place in the Professional Development Center at the District Office.
