A student may attend La Cañada Unified School District under an In Loco Parentis Agreement (Transfer of Legal Responsibility for Minor). The relative who is assuming responsibility for that student must submit a completed application along with the following documents:

• Proof of Residency from the relative who has responsibility for the student.
• The enrollment process must be completed by the relative who is assuming responsibility, not the parent. Follow the enrollment steps here.
• To preserve the fairness and equity of our enrollment procedures, please note that the district reserves the right to make periodic residence checks throughout the school year. Students will be withdrawn if not in full-time residence as indicated on the agreement form.

In order for the student to continue attending La Cañada Unified School District, updated In Loco Parentis Paperwork must be turned in each year and is due by August 1st for the upcoming school year.
